Elephant in Jhapa and rhino in Chitwan found dead

An adult wild elephant was found dead in a bog inside the Rampokhari Community Forest in ward 2 of Bhadrapur Municipality in Jhapa district, on Wednesday morning.

A technical team from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve reached the site for investigation to ascertain whether the animal had died or there was foul play involved, said Giri.
Similarly, a female rhino of around 25 years was found dead in the Khoriyamuhan area of the Chitwan National Park.
According to information officer of the park, Ganesh Tiwari, the rhino was found dead three days ago with its horn intact. Officials suspect that the pachyderm might have died in a fight with another rhino.
