Police on Friday arrested popular Nepali actor Anmol KC on the charge of fraud.
A police team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested KC from Sangha in Bhaktapur.
According to police, a complaint against the actor on fraud charges was filed by producer Supriya Katuwal for not working in the movie ‘Ramayana’ even after receiving Rs one million.
The producer had lodged the complaint with the police saying KC didn’t appear for the shooting as per the agreement despite receiving the amount.
Senior Superintendent of Police Somendra Singh Rathore said KC was arrested after he failed to appear before the police despite a request from the law enforcement agency.
“It was said that the shooting of the movie would start a few days ago. For that, the producer has already paid Rs10.05 million to the actor, actress, technical team and others. The complaint was filed with the police after KC didn’t appear for shooting even after receiving one million rupees,” said Rathore.
The police had planned to hold discussions by summoning both sides. “But, later KC was detained after seeking an arrest warrant from a court as he threatened the police saying that he would not appear at the police office.”
SSP Rathore said that he will be prosecuted for fraud.
