The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security on Friday clarified that it has not reached any agreement with South Korea regarding recruitment of seasonal workers.
In a statement, the ministry said only the agreement with South Korea to send Nepali workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS) is currently being implemented.
The ministry issued the notice after a fake notice with a forged signature of Dandu Raj Ghimire, spokesperson of the ministry, circulated on social media claiming that the process of sending seasonal workers has already started.
The fake notice however claims that an agreement has already been reached with South Korea to recruit 12,000 Nepali workers by November 8.
Stating that no labour deal for seasonal workers has been inked so far, the labour ministry has urged people not to be misled by the fake notice of job opportunities circulating on social media.
“The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security informs all the concerned not to create confusion among the general public by spreading fake information about foreign employment,” reads the statement issued by the ministry on Thursday. “The ministry strongly requests everyone to start the process of foreign employment only after confirming its authenticity.”
