Nepal and the Marshall Islands have established diplomatic relations on Friday. With this, the number of countries with which Nepal has diplomatic relations has reached 181.
Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Nepal to UN Amrit Bahadur Rai and Ambassador/ Permanent Representative of the Marshall Islands to the UN Amatlain Elizabeth Kabua signed a joint communiqué to this effect in a brief ceremony in New York.
The Marshall Islands is an island nation in the Pacific Ocean. The country is part of the larger island group of Micronesia.
The two ambassadors also exchanged views on various matters of common interest during the ceremony, the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations said.
Earlier on Thursday, Nepal had established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Cameroon.
Likewise, diplomatic relations were established with Nauru on May 4, and Malawi on February 16.
Nepal’s first diplomatic relationship was established with the United Kingdom in 1816.
