Samantha Power, administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Wednesday.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar administrator Power held talks on Nepal’s economy, furthering relations between Nepal and the United States of America and stressed on the implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact, a $500 million American grant package to develop Nepal’s energy and transport infrastructure.

Earlier on Tuesday, Power had met Foreign Minister Bimala Rai Paudyal.

Power arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday morning on a two-day visit to Nepal. She is also scheduled to meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday and return home after holding a press conference at 5 pm today.

Administrator Power’s visit to Nepal comes less than a week after Victoria Nuland, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, returned after her two-day official visit.
