Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has put himself into home isolation after one of the members working in his secretariat tested positive for Covid-19.
"One of our members working in the secretariat tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday so the party president is in home isolation," said Bhanu Deuba, personal aide to Deuba.
A team of doctors is set to collect swab samples of former prime minister Deuba and those who came in contact with the person who tested positive for the virus on Friday.
According to Bhanu, the party president has cancelled all his activities including a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and ruling party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, which was scheduled for Thursday.
Discussions on appointments in various constitutional bodies and universities were expected during the meeting. Over 48 posts in various constitutional bodies are lying vacant since long.
A meeting between Oli, Dahal and Deuba had been called but it had to be cancelled after Deuba went into self-isolation, said an official at the prime minister's private secretariat.
