Human activities have decreased in the market places while the number of students in schools has been on a decline due to the cold weather and thick fog. The locals make bonfires on the roadside to keep themselves warm. Patients of various cold-related diseases in the health facilities are on the rise lately.
The temperature in the area has dropped since Monday. The region is covered in a thick blanket of fog. The Provincial Traffic Police Office in Pathalaiya has urged all vehicles to use their headlights to avert road accidents caused by poor visibility.
“Cold wave is sweeping across the region. Children, senior citizens and people from impoverished communities have been greatly affected due to severe cold,” said Yogendra Baitha of Kalaiya-16 in Bara district.
Woman sustains burn injuries
DHANUSHA: A 20-year-old woman sustained serious burn injuries while keeping herself warm by a fire at Kadam Chowk in Janakpur Sub-metropolis, Dhanusha, on Wednesday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dipendra Shahi said Jyoti Devi sustained critical burn injuries in the incident. She was sleeping by the fire to keep warm when the flame caught her clothes, causing serious burn injuries below her chest. She was taken to Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
