3 land revenue staff among 7 charged in bogus land deal
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Sunday filed a case at the Special Court against seven people, including three staff from Land Revenue Office, Parasi, accusing them of selling a public land to a LPG company.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday filed a case at the Special Court against seven people, including three staff from Land Revenue Office, Parasi, accusing them of selling a public land to a LPG company.
The defendants had reportedly appropriated more than 2 bighas of public land at Sarawal Rural Municipality-1 in Nawalparasi before selling it to Lumbini Gas Company by creating fake documents. The land was reportedly sold for Rs 28.65 million.
Manohar Prasad Panthi, Jiblal Bhusal and Yajaj Khan of the Land Revenue Office had allegedly forged land ownership papers and altered land records to see the deal through.
The commission has also brought the case against Deepak Sunar, who had posed as the owner of the land; land brokers Yadav Prasad Bhandari and Sudan Shrestha; and Surendra Raj Paudyal, representative of Lumbini Gas Company.
The commission has recommended a fine totalling Rs 28.65 million and maximum three years imprisonment to the accused employees of the Land Revenue Office.
For Sunar and Bhandari, the anti-graft body has sought a fine of Rs 28.65 million each and a jail term of up to two years.
The prescribed penalty for Paudyal and Shrestha is a combined fine of Rs 28.65 million and a jail term of up to two years.
The commission has also asked the court to seize the amount transacted during the bogus land deal.
