Preparations are underway to take nonagenarian poet Madhav Prasad Ghimire to Indian capital Delhi for treatment.
According to a family source, he will be flown to Gurgaon-based Medanta Hospital in India on Wednesday.
Although there has been a minor improvement in his health, he is taking time to recuperate from internal bleeding, the hospital administration said.
The family source said that doctors involved in the poet’s treatment have advised him to be flown abroad for further treatment.
Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri had reached the hospital to meet Brigadier General of Nepal Army Ghimire. The government on February 10 had awarded the honorary title of Brigadier General of Nepal Army to him.
Ghimire, 99, was admitted to the Grande Hospital 12 days ago to receive treatment for chronic gastritis and high blood pressure.
The news of Ghimire’s ill health comes at a time when preparations have been initiated to celebrate his birth centenary.
