'CJ Parajuli’s order against Kantipur on contempt case vengeful and arrogant'
Press Chautari Nepal has said that its attention has been drawn towards the Contempt of Court case against the Kantipur Daily filed for publishing a news article regarding discrepancies in the birth date mentioned by Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli in his official documents.

In a press statement on Tuesday, the Press Chautari Nepal has stated that publication and dissemination of any news reports is the right of any media as per the Freedom of Press guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal which has been promulgated through the efforts of media and professionals associated with the sector. The statement further read the media also should abide by the constitution and journalistic ethics while publishing and disseminating any news articles.
“Questions are being raised as to if the court order issued by CJ Parajuli, on a case regarding a news article that levels serious allegations against him, is trying to curb the Freedom of Press and Free Speech through a contempt case in a vengeful manner,” read the statement signed by Press Chautari Nepal General Secretary Rajesh Rai.
The Press Chautari Nepal further said that it will stand firm against any interference on Free Press by any state organs.
