Security chiefs including Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai inspected encroachment on the no-man’s land at Ratnapur village in Kalabanjar, around four kilometres from the Bardiya district headquarters Gulariya on Monday.
The area lies around the Nepal-India border pillar numbered 61. Locals have built houses and other infrastructure on the no-man’s land. Near the pillar, the Indian side has built a road, which extends up to the national highway of Mihinpurwa.
Indian traders have been running businesses in the border area. CDO Bhattarai said that a Nepal-India team will survey the encroachment soon. “People have to leave if they are found to be occupying the no-man’s land,” said the CDO.
A member of the Indian Sashastra Seema Bal deployed to watch the border said the joint survey team may resolve the problem.
