According to Rasuwa Chief District Officer Chomendra Neupane, the order comes in line with the mandatory requirement to seal international borders ahead of the elections. The borders will remain shut till Sunday midnight.
The order will halt the movement of people and vehicles across the border. According to CDO Neupane, security has been heightened in the district as ballot papers and boxes have already reached polling centres.
Around 1,500 personnel from temporary police, Nepal Police, Nepal Army and the National Investigation Department have been mobilised for the polls, he said.
“We have managed essential supplies as the administration told us the border point would remain shut for four days,” Nurpu Bhote, a local, told the Post over phone.
