Nepali Congress former General Secretary Govinda Raj Joshi has said that the party is forging alliance with other political parties just for the sake of power and not policies.

Speaking during a press meet organised at Damauli on Wednesday, leader Joshi opined that the leadership, by forging alliance with other parties have made the party weak.

The NC has forged electoral alliance with Rastripa Prajantra Party (RPP), RPP (Prajatantrik) among other parties for the upcoming federal and provincial elections.

During the press meet, leader Joshi, who was jailed for corruption, said that he will go to the public if the party refuses to give him the ticket for Tanahun-1.

NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel is likely to contest polls from the area.

Likewise, leader Joshi said that he is more likely to ascertain victory for the party from the constituency because of his popularity in the area. “A senior leader of the party can fight elections from some other constituency as well,” said Joshi, “The constituency [Tanahun-1] will be a difficult election to win and victory is possible only if everyone within the party is satisfied with the decision.”

Leader Joshi further said that he has worked day and night for the people and development of Tanahun adding that he is sure that the people will make him victories.
