Two people including a child were killed and eight others went missing following a landslide at in Makwanpur district on Saturday night.

Six members of a family including Manthali Mangal Ngesur of Bakaiya Rural Municipality in the district have been missing. The deceased child was also from the same family.

In a separate incident, 40-year-old Bir Bahadur Moktan of Bakaiya RM has died after he was swept away for flooded Bunge rivulet.

Similarly, a man and a woman have been missing after a house was buried in Chhatiwan Jaljale. Police said they have been searching for the missing.

Ward 4 and 5 of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City have been submerged following the incessant rains. Short routes including Kulekhani-Phakhel have been obstructed due to landslides.

Locals of Mahahari Rural Municipality in the district have been displaced after waters from a flooded river entered their village. Security personnel have been trying to resume obstructed road, police said.

A meeting of the District Disaster Relief Committee, Hetauda, on Sunday morning has decided to provide immediate relief by collecting data of the landslide affected family.
