Floods trigged by torrential rain in various rivers have inundated 10,000 houses and displaced 500 families in Saptari district.
More than two dozen villages of the district including district headquarters Rajbiraj have submerged after the flooded Khando, Koshi Jita and Mahuli rivers changed their natural path and gushed into human settlements.
Flood water has also entered into Kharsal Tole, Pani Tanki, Madan Nagar, Rupani Road and Kanchanpur Road among other places of Rajbiraj.
Similarly, flood up to three feet is passing through the Siraha Road and Adda Line of the district.
The offices of District Administration, Zonal Police Office, District Court, Agricultural Development Bank, District Agricultural Office and High Court of Rajbiraj are submerged in the flood. The rainfall has not yet stopped.
It is learnt the electricity and mobile services of Nepal Telecom are disrupted due to the floods.
The Malhaniya Village of Saptari has turned into an island for the past three days after the water in various rivers did not get a way out due to a dam constructed by the Indian side in Dusgaja.
Flood water has gushed into 250 houses in Malhaniya of Kankalini Municipality-14 of Hanumannagar.
Likewise, 100 families have been displaced in Tota of the district. They are taking shelter at a local school.
More than 500 houses have been inundated in the area and the local have been facing problems to come out of their houses.
