According to the criteria, a candidate can contest in only one of the three-tier elections—local, provincial and federal—to be held as per the new constitution, said secretary Yogesh Bhattarai while making public the decision of the party's Standing Committee on Monday.
Candidates contesting in any one of the three elections will not be allowed to contest in the other two elections.
The party said such measure was taken to manage the high number of election aspirants.
A committee headed by vice chairman Bamdev Gautam has been formed to draft the manifesto for upcoming local election. Asta Laxmi Shakya, Bhim Rawal, Bishnu Poudel, Ghana Shyam Bhusal, Pradip Gyawali, Shankar Pokhrel, Surendra Panday, Kiran Gurung, Dr Pushpa Kandel, Lalbabu Pandit, Binda Panday, Rabindra Adhikari, Raghubir Mahaseth and Lal Babu Yadav are the committee members.
An election monitoring and coordination committee has also been formed under general secretary Ishwar Pokhrel.
The party has directed its central and provincial bodies, departments, leaders, and members to coordinate with provincial coordination committee and immediately get in motion in their respective areas
