Many patients had to be referred to hospitals outside the district owing to the shortage of doctors in the past.
“We have had few referrals after the hospital hired new doctors. The hospital’s service has also improved,” said Naresh Shrestha, the hospital’s information officer.
Although the hospital has two doctor’s positions, there was only one doctor in the past. Besides filling the vacant post, the hospital has hired two more doctors on contract.
Dabbal Rawal, chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, said with four doctors working at the hospital currently, more patients are receiving medical care without having to travel outside the district.
