Post Report
The Election Commission of Nepal has announced a by-election in Rupandehi Constituency-3 on November 3. The federal seat became vacant after the death of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Deepak Bohara in April.
According to acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, preparations are underway for the vote, which aims to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives.
Bohara, 74, passed away on April 1 while undergoing treatment for long-term post-Covid health complications at Om Hospital in Kathmandu. He had struggled with health issues since contracting the virus in 2020 and was unable to speak also during the last election campaign despite treatment in Delhi and New York.
A politician with nearly four decades of experience, Bohara had served in multiple ministerial roles. In the 2022 general election, he defeated Nepali Congress leader Bal Krishna Khand in Rupandehi-3.
