UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has underlined the need for national unity in order to address the complaints and expectations of the people. He added that all the political parties should unite to implement the new constitution, give momentum to the reconstruction work and speed up the development.

Addressing a press meet organised by Dang chapter of revolutionary journalists in Ghorahi, Dang on Saturday, leader Dahal opined that the Nepali Congress and Madhesi parties should be brought onboard to form a national unity government. He added that the political parties should move forward based on the 16-point agreement.

The UCPN (Maoist) chair, who led a decade-long armed revolt, said his party would extend all-out support to the commission formed to investigate into the conflict-era cases of human rights violations.

It is indispensable to file complaints for probing the conflict era cases of human rights violations and those found guilty of serious crime should be punished, said Dahal. He made it clear that the conflict era cases should be dealt according to the principle of transitional justice. He said that the court has made a mistake in some of the conflict-era cases.

He noted that the commission on disappearances should pay attention to create peace in the society rather that fuelling discord.
