Four DIGs promoted
More than a year after a Supreme Court’s order to promote senior police officials, the government has finally promoted four deputy inspectors general (DIGs) to the post of additional inspector general. A Cabinet meeting on Friday decided to promote DIGs Yadav Adhikari, Sushil ar Singh Thapa, Parsuram Khatri and Bishwo Raj Shahi.More than a year after a Supreme Court’s order to promote senior police officials, the government has finally promoted four deputy inspectors general (DIGs) to the post of additional inspector general. According to Minister for Information and Communication Technology Sherdhan Rai, who is also the government spokesperson, the DIGs have been promoted to the post of AIG under “special arrangement” and these additional posts will automatically be null and void once the officials retire.
The SC on September 24, 2014 directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and Nepal Police Headquarters to promote the four DIGs to the post of AIG.
