As scores of supporters of other political parties including the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha have been enlisted as Nepali Congress active members, NC leaders are in a dilemma ahead of the party’s 13th General Convention scheduled for March.
NC District Chairman Laxman Raya said real Congress supporters are in a problem after supporters of other parties were categorised as NC members. Only active members have the voting right in party conventions at various levels.
Some of the persons who got their membership renewed were the NC’s past Constituent Assembly election candidates who later defected to other parties.
Congress District Secretary Nabin Adhikari said they were unable to withdraw the renewal decision even after providing the evidences. The District Committee has requested the party’s Central Working Committee to scrap the membership of other party supporters.
