The SLMM protesters have been holding the sit-in for the past 19 days at the Birgunj-Raxaul border point. More people from various VDCs in Parsa and Bara districts have come on tractors to joint the protest at the border point following appeals from SLMM supporters through local FM stations.
Scores of protesters took out demonstrations along the 5km long stretch between Ghantaghar to Miteri Bridge. The weapon-wielding protesters have been organising rallies and demonstrations in the no-man’s-land area. It has been learnt that the protesters are even using third gender minorities in the protest programme.
Superintendent of Police Rajbabu Shrestha said they had been keeping a close watch on the movement of the protesters in the border area. Birgunj has witnessed violent protests in the past few days.
