Records at the municipality show that the varsity has design approval for only nine of its twenty-two buildings.
It is learnt that dispute between the KU authorities and the municipality has stymied the approval process of some of the buildings.
While Minakshi Bhurtel, the municipality executive officer, said that the university has not initiated the process to get the building designs approved despite repeated requests.
“They university has been deferring the task demanding that all of its building designs must be approved free of cost” she said.
The KU officials said that the municipality must not charge any fees as the campus property belongs to the government. Mukunda Upadhyay, chief administrative officer at the KU, said that they plan to get the entire blueprint of the university approved.
“Since the municipality executive chief alone cannot to do so we could not get the building designs approved,” he claimed.
As the KU has also been offering some concessions to the municipality, Upadhyay added, they hope for a similar gesture from the municipality.
“The building design approval process has been stymied due to lack of understanding,” Upadhyay said.
He also claimed that the KU authorities have not compromised on their quality and durability of the campus buildings.
