Police inspector Keshav Bahadur Shah said that the people consumed the ‘spirit’ served at a wedding ceremony in Laxman Thami’s house on Sunday.
Four of the villagers, who attended Bishnu Shrestha’s wedding as workers, brought the liquid from Tatopani Bazaar.
“It is not clear what substance they consumed,” said Shah, adding that the liquid was sent to a hospital lab for testing.
When asked about the incident, Shrestha said he had no knowledge about the liquid.
The ill people are receiving treatment at Barhabise, Dhulikhel and Kathmandu.
Four of the seriously ill are undergoing treatment at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu.
