Yamuna Shrestha, managing director of the Cimex Inc Pvt Ltd, reflected on the years-long journey of the company since it started selling electric vehicles in Nepal.
She reflected back to 2017, when the company sold its very first electric vehicle in the country—a small beginning that has since evolved into a larger mission–initiating a green revolution in Nepal.
Delivering an emotional speech during a recent event attended by some noted dignitaries including Chen Song, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Nepal, media representatives, EV enthusiasts and the business community members, Shrestha acknowledged that the path had never been easy.

It was through resilience, unwavering belief, and the support of partners and well-wishers that the EV now holds a remarkable 72 percent share in Nepal’s new vehicle market, she said.
This achievement, she emphasised, wasn’t just about selling cars—it was about offering a dream, nurturing a vision, and building the foundation for a sustainable future.
Shrestha shed light on the journey, as the company unveiled the new BYD Sealion 7 on Thursday making a step forward in their journey.

“The Sealion 7 stands as a representation of our responsibility, love for the planet, and a promise to future generations,” she said.
In the context of growing global concerns around climate change and pollution, she underlined their commitment to making clean and smart mobility options accessible to all Nepalis.
Sahil Shrestha, CEO of Cimex Inc Pvt Ltd said that the BYD SEALION 7 combines breakthrough EV technologies, premium comfort, and thoughtful engineering tailored for Nepal.
“With the 100 kW variant and attractive early bird pricing, we’re proud to bring yet another milestone vehicle to the Nepalese market,” he said. “As the demand for sustainable transportation grows, the SEALION 7 reinforces our commitment to electric mobility with both substance and style.”
