In a significant step towards strengthening academic-industry collaboration and promoting Lumbini as a global centre for peace and tourism, the Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) and Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). NICCI President Sunil KC and LBU Vice Chancellor Prof. Subarna Lal Bajracharya signed the agreement on Sunday.
The MoU outlines a broad framework for cooperation, including promoting academia-industry partnerships, facilitation of internships and job placements, joint research and innovation, knowledge exchange, co-authored studies and publications, and collaborative efforts to position Lumbini as a global peace destination.
Speaking at the ceremony, Bajracharya outlined his vision of transforming Lumbini into an international academic and spiritual hub. He highlighted LBU’s efforts to attract 22,000 international students and noted that a comprehensive master plan—including curriculum development and infrastructure expansion—is underway. He emphasised that collaboration with NICCI will be crucial in building ties with Indian diplomats, scholars, and the business community to support this ambition.
