FNCCI team off to China for Kunming expo
A delegation from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) left for Kunming, China, on Saturday to participate in the 11th China-South Asia Business forum. The event is being organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade aimed at promoting international trade, developing the Silk Road economic belt, and securing cooperation between industries.
Discussions will be held on a range of issues such as trade between China and the South Asian region, services sector and co-operation in higher education, among others.
Rana is scheduled to address the forum under the theme of “Innovation in Science and Technology Leading the Future”.
According to FNCCI, the delegation will also visit 4th China-South Asia Exposition and 24th Vitality China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair.
High-ranking Nepali government officials, scholars and journalists are expected to participate in the expo. Leaders, government officials from the Saarc and industrialists from China and the South Asian region are also taking part in the event.
Nepal has 200 stalls, including 100 stalls booked by FNCCI. The stalls will display a wide range of Nepali handicrafts, art and sculptures, metal crafts, pashmina and rudraksha beads, among others. The theme for this year’s event is “Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit, Inclusiveness and Win-Win Cooperation”. Maldives is the theme country for this year.
Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the government of Yunnan Province, the China Kunming Import and Export Commodities Fair is an international event attracting visitors from numerous countries across the globe.
According to the organisers, a total of 75 countries participated in the event in 2015, drawing around 120,000 buyers. The week-long expo will conclude on June 17.
