Eicher rolls out Pro series of light and heavy trucks
VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV, India) has launched the Eicher Pro 1000 and Eicher Pro 3000 series of light and heavy trucks in the domestic market.
The Eicher Pro 1000 series is a new and enhanced range of light and medium duty trucks. The vehicles are powered by an E-483 engine and are available in capacities ranging from 5 to 14 tonnes.
The engine is a BS3 mechanical pump engine with optimized power and torque to ensure superior performance and easy and low maintenance, the company said. The truck has a 2 metre wide aerodynamic cabin with modern styling and aesthetics for better comfort and convenience to users.
The Pro 3000 series medium duty trucks come in 10 to 15 tonne capacities and are fitted with a 4 cylinder 4 valve E-494 CRS technology engine. It also has the Volvo Group Engine Management System (EMS) 3.0 which has high processing capability, optimum balance between load demands, fuel efficiency and emission control. The vehicle comes with a 2.1 metre wide new generation cabin with a sleeper option. Meeting ECR 27 safety test norms, it has a six-way adjustable seat for the driver’s comfort. Both the vehicle ranges were designed and developed by a joint team of the Volvo Group and Eicher. These vehicles are priced between Rs 2.1 million and Rs 4.5 million in Nepal.
Launching the trucks on Thursday, Emmanuel Levacher, vice-president, International Business of VECV, India said that they would be crucial to increasing its market share in Nepal.
“Nepal is an emerging market which plays a very important role, and we will continue launching other ranges of vehicles for our growth,” he said. “We hope that Eicher branded trucks and buses will continue to meet the growing demand.”
Meanwhile, the company has planned to launch Skyline Pro buses by February. Levacher said that they would be launching the Pro 6000 and Pro 8000 series of commercial vehicles soon.
“With this new range of vehicles, we aim to increase our market share to 18 percent from the current 13 percent,” said Anand Raj Batas, chairman of Eastern Motors, the authorised distributor of Eicher vehicles in Nepal. “We are the market leader in school buses with a 40 percent market share, and we hope to strengthen market share in the truck and tipper segments too.”
The company said it sold 726 Eicher vehicles last year. Eastern maintains 22 sales and service centres across the country.
