A group of daily wage employees at Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) has padlocked the main office to protest the alleged discrimination in pay and facilities among the staff working similar job.
The office is shut for the past three days because of the protest started by 25 workers, who claim that 11 of their colleagues were recently put on monthly payroll and given official positions.
Saroj Bhattarai, chief of the engineering section at the LDT, said the 11 workers were appointed on monthly payroll basis because they had been working since November 2016.
The agitating workers, Bhattarai said, joined a little over six months ago.
