A rape suspect committed suicide in police custody in Dharan, Sunsari, on Sunday morning. According to the Dharan Area Police Office, Shreedhan Bishwakarma, 33, hung himself inside the custody bathroom using his shirt.

A CCTV footage showed Bishwakarma heading towards the bathroom at around 3am. His body was discovered by another detainee at around 3:20am. Bishwakarma, who hailed from Khotang, was arrested on August 20 on charge of raping his 12-year-old daughter. The Sunsari District Court had remanded him to custody for investigation. (PR)
