The students selected from open competition mainly to study medicine and technical courses were awarded scholarships amid a programme in the Capital on Saturday. The students will get to study free of cost, along with accommodation, at renowned universities in China.
Addressing the function, Chinese Ambassador Yu Hong said Nepal is on China’s priority list not just for economic support but also in the academic sector. She shared that 5,160 students have graduated under Chinese scholarships so far. Yu said Nepal’s signing of the Belt and Road Initiative would open avenues for Nepal’s youths. Speaking at the programme, Dr Sarbottam Shrestha, chairperson of Araniko Society, an Alumni of Nepali graduates from China, said the Chinese education system is world class and it is a life time opportunity for one to get to study there. “You are lucky to be selected to study in China,” he told the students.
