Kathmandu
The Election Commission has asked the political parties to submit by Tuesday the names and signatures of their officials who can submit official letters of candidate nomination to the EC for the upcoming phase of local level elections in Province 2.
The Local Level Election Act-2017 requires the parties to designate officials for the purpose, failing which will lead to the EC not recognising candidates as the party’s official nominees. The local elections are being held in eight Tarai districts on September 18.
While submitting these details, the parties have to attach the decision of their central or provincial committees. They can choose central committee members or provincial members to submit the official letter of nomination.
