A child died of diarrhoea at Maharajgunj Municipality in Kapilvastu on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as eight-year-old Tarekh Raidas, son of Chaitaram Raidas of Maharajgunj Municipality-7, according to public health officer at the District Health Office Bishnu Jayaswal.
More than 50 people have been affected from the diarrhoea that has spread in the municipality from Thursday.
Consumption of contaminated water and lack of hygiene are said to be the reasons behind the diarrhoea epidemic.
A team of health workers has been sent to the village for the treatment of affected people.
The District Health Office has urged all to remain alert as there was high risk of diarrhoea epidemic in the flood-affected areas. RSS
