The Office of the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Kathmandu observed the 72nd anniversary of the Proclamation of the Independence of Indonesia by hoisting the flag at IME Complex premises on Thursday. 

Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Nepal Chandra Prasad Dhakal hoisted the Indonesia national flag to mark the occasion. The ceremony was attended by the Indonesian community currently residing in Nepal along with the staff members of the consul office and IME Group, the consul office said in statement. 

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Nepal were established in 1960. “People to people contacts have been steadily growing between the two friendly countries after the establishment of the Office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Nepal. 

Starting May 2016, Indonesia has been providing free visa on arrival to Nepali nationals for tourist and leisure activities, the statement reads.
