Dailekh
A woman, who was observing Chhaupadi, died of snakebite at Lainchaur of Bindrasaini-6 in Dailekh on Thursday. Shanta Shahi was bitten by a snake while she was asleep inside a shed near her house for Chhaupadi, a tradition where adolescent girls and women during their menstruation and postnatal periods live separately in sheds. Kamala Shahi, a paramedic, said Shanta died due to lack of timely medical care, because she was first taken to a local shaman. (PR)
