Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Affairs Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar on Sunday said the local level elections in Province 2 can be held in a third phase.
Talking to journalists in Biratnagar, Gachhadar said it had been clear that the agitating Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal will skip the second phase polls scheduled for June 28 despite the government’s efforts to take the newly united party on board by amending the Registration of Political Parties Act.
However, DPM Gachhadar said the government was not in favour of postponing the polls further.
“It seems the RJP-N is committed to establishing its agendas rather than participate in the elections. The government is determined to engage the protesting RJP-N in the polls,” he added.
