The government has decided to form a high-level committee to investigate into Saptari killings.
Minister for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Hridaya Ram Thani said a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday decided to form a three-member committee headed by a former apex court justice. Members of the panel are yet to be named. The committee, however, has to submit its report in 15 days.
Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi had taken a proposal regarding formation of a probe committee to the Cabinet.
Meanwhile, Nepal Police has formed a committee headed by SSP Uttam Karki to look into the incident. Three persons were killed in police firing at Maleth of Saptari on Monday The fourth injured protester died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.
