Envoy Thapa presents letter of credence to Belgian king

Following the credential ceremony, Ambassador Thapa had an audience with the Belgian monarch.
During the audience, the Belgian king congratulated Ambassador Thapa on his appointment and wished him success in further strengthening the bilateral relations between Nepal and Belgium, the Embassy of Nepal in Brussels said in a press release.
The Belgian king also recalled his fond memories of his visit to Nepal in 1998 as the crown prince, according to the press release. He noted that there had been a sea change in Nepal’s political, economic as well as socio-cultural landscapes since then.
On the occasion, Ambassador Thapa conveyed the greetings and best wishes of President Bidya Devi Bhandari to King Philippe. While expressing happiness over the state of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Nepal and Belgium, Ambassador Thapa mentioned that he would make unremitting efforts to augment these relations and take them to new heights during his tenure.
Thapa is the sixth ambassador of Nepal to the Kingdom of Belgium after the establishment of residential Embassy of Nepal in Brussels in 1992.
