A meeting of the party headquarters decided to introduce a plan of action targeting the elections, said Maoist leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha. He added that the local polls would be held in the current structure if the task of restructuring the local government units is not over in time for the vote. The meeting deemed the holding of local body elections to be crucial and dwelt on announcing the date within some days through consensus among the major parties, said party Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal. “The meeting focused on the issue of the party’s internal organisation. The number of politburo members and the future course of action were also discussed. It also dwelt on the scenario following the registration of the constitution amendment proposal and the government’s performance,” said Bhusal.
