The Maharajung Medical Campus of the Institute of Medicine (IoM) has warned of stern action against students who fail to abide by the rules of the institute.

Dispatching two letters on November 18 to various entities of the IoM, including the National Resident Doctors Association (NRDA), the campus has said that the repeated protest by Dr Govinda KC has affected the academic activities and healthcare delivery and that students who flout institute’s rules and stand in support of Dr KC will be liable to action.

The campus has said the students must follow

the code of conduct of the institute.

“Action will be taken against those who fail to comply with the directives,” said the campus.

The campus move has been opposed by the NRDA and other students who said they are being intimidated by the college administration. Some of the students even claimed that professors and teachers warned them saying they will “see them in the exam and viva”.

Issuing a statement, the NRDA has also said that it will be forced to launch stern protest programmes if such forceful activities from the IoM continue.

“We believe in the cause that Dr KC is fighting for. Hence we have our full support [to him] and we will not be part of any classroom activities unless his demands are met,” said Dr Leison Maharjan, president of NRDA.

Dr Rohit Kumar Pokhrel, assistant campus chief, said the campus administration wants to make sure that students do not miss the academic calendar that might delay their graduation.
