Jajarkot district has achieved fully literate status after 95 percent of the adults (15-60 years) became able to read and write, thanks to the nationwide literacy campaign launched by the government.
Jajarkot is the second district in Bheri zone and 24th in the country to be declared fully literate. The announcement was made in a function attended by Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet. District Education Officer Lalit Bikram Singh said the literacy programme taught 40,000 of the 43,000 illiterate people in the district to read and write.
Home Minister Basnet said Jajarkot should now focus on increasing the education quality. He urged the concerned authorities to work to that
