Kailali District Administration Office has decided to request the former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to cancel his programme to visit the district keeping in view the tense situation as of now.
A meeting of district security committee on Sunday decided to urge leader Bhattarai to cancel his trip due to security challenges. CDO Mohan Chapagain said they would forward the request to leader Bhattarai via Home Ministry.
Bhattarai was set to visit Dhangadi on October 7. He was planning to address a protest assembly called by Tharuhat agitators.
The district is still tense after the gruesome killing of eight security personnel and a toddler by Tharuhat cadres on August 24. A-month-long-curfew had been lifted in the district a week ago.
