Speaking during today’s session of the Legislature Parliament, Minister Gautam claimed that some of the violent protests were incited by parliamentarians. “Some members of this parliament were found to have stirred up the violence in some districts. Such links are being investigated,” he said.
Gautam claimed that the government had enough evidence to testify the attacks at Tikapur, Kailali, and Bardiya were premeditated. He briefed the parliament that the attack was actuated by some group to fulfil their vested interests and they had fired bullets during those attacks. Nine persons, including a Senior Superintendent of Police, were killed in Tikapur while a police head constable was shot dead at Bardiya.
After briefing by the home minister, Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Nembang had urged the concerned parliamentary committee to study about the problems in the Madhes region and immediately seek their solutions.
Clashes claims 29 lives so far: DPM Gautam
Twenty-nine individuals, including 10 security personnel, have been killed so far in protests against the proposed state demarcation, Minister Gautam informed the House.
Gautam informed that 10 security personnel, one kid, one motorcyclist and 17 protestors have lost their lives in violent protests and clashes across the country. Eighty-three security men and 112 demonstrators have sustained injuries.
Around 20 personal houses, 24 government vehicles and 172 private vehicles have also been damaged in the protests, Gautam informed.
