The District Administration Office, Kailali lifted curfew from Tikpaur for two hours on Saturday after the continuous 24-hour curfew affected the daily livelihood.

The curfew was called off from 9 am to 11 am this morning. Locals breathed relief as they could buy daily essentials from the groceries.

Area Police Office Chief Suman Dhital said the curfew was lifted keeping in view the Rakshya Bandhan festival.

Dhital said that they had to impose curfew as the situation is huffy there. “We have been trying to resume the normal days of Tikapur by holding talks with demonstrators and members of civil society,” said Dhital.

Tikapur witnessed a brutal killing of eight policemen and a child in a protest of Tharuhat that turned violent on Monday.
