Policemen caught in premeditated attack: Home Minister

Minister Gautam added that the police personnel were attacked in a premeditated manner notwithstanding the previous day agreement to seek peaceful solution to the demands of agitating groups.
He said a group of around 200 assailants armed with axes, spares and batons, marched towards Manohara and Durgauli area of Tikapur and launched a sudden attack on the police personnel.
Speaking at the Legislature-Parliament on Monday, Home Minister Gautam said all the agitating groups including Tharuhat protesters, undivided Far-West supporters, and other agitating groups had agreed in Sunday’s talks held under the leadership of Kailali Chief District Officer to seek solution through talks.
Nepal Police SSP Laxman Neupane was killed by penetrating a spare, Inspector duo Keshav Boahara and Bal Ram Bista and Constable Lokendra Chand were hacked to death, while Armed Police Force (APF) head-constable Ram Biraha Tharu was burnt alive, Minister informed the parliament.
He said the incident was conducted in a conspiratorial which will lead the country towards failure. He urged the parliament to pass a resolution appealing the people to observe restraint and maintain social harmony.
