Incumbent Chief Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Sah is retiring on July 11. Shrestha will be appointed to the post by the president after Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee conducts a hearing.
As per the procedure, CC will look into the details of the names forwarded by the Judicial Council to the post of CJ and recommend suitable candidate for a parliamentary hearing. Upon the parliamentary approval, s/he will assume the office of CJ.
