IGP Upendra Kant Aryal has said that the government will decide on providing information and compensation to the family members of the missing persons in the April 25 earthquake.Speaking about the security after the Great Quake at Okhaldhunga on Friday, IGP Aryal said, “Governmental body should speak about the missing persons even if through paperwork. The family of the missing ones should also be entitled to compensation.” He informed that a committee will be formed and the decision will be made public within a week.
Around 20 people from Okhaldhunga, who were at Langtang for work, are missing since the April 25 quake.
IGP Aryal, saying that crime rates soar up after any disaster, said that women and children are prone to such post-disaster crimes. Citing the instance of Haiti, where the authorities had to enforce curfew after crimes escalated, Aryal said, “We are paying attention to the security.”
The police chief further said that Nepal Police Women and Children Central Directorate will come up with special programmes and assistance.
