Speaking at a press meet organised by Pyuthan chapter of Pragatishil Patrakar Sangh (Progressive Journalists’ Association) at Khalanga on Tuesday, leader Singh said, “If the constitution is not drafted through majority then with what should it be drafted?”
CPN (Mashal) General Secretary Singh said that if consensus seems elusive then the Maoists should accept the widely recognised process to draft the constitution. He alleged the UCPN (M) of rejecting the majority voting process in order to draft a constitution favourable to them.
Saying that the first CA had to be dissolved because of the wrangle over federalism, leader Singh said that his party would accept the constitution by writing a note of dissent on the issue of federalim in order to institutionalise the republic. Leader Singh further said that his party would continue to protest the notion of federalism citing that many nations had revoked federalism after its implementation.
The CPN (Mashal) General Secretary opined that the unification of Maoist parties was impossible. He remarked the planned unification of Maoists is unprincipled and opportunistic. He added that the strength of communist lies in principles and not in public polls.
