Curfew lifted in Baneshwar-Tinkune area
The order restricting movement, gatherings, and protests imposed on Friday lifted as tension eased.
Post Report
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, lifted the curfew in the Baneshwar-Tinkune stretch and surrounding areas from 7am on Saturday.
The curfew was initially enforced from 4:25pm to 10pm on Friday after pro-monarchy protesters vandalised and set fire to private homes, shops, media houses, political party offices, and government property. Later, authorities extended the restriction until Saturday morning.
The order had prohibited movement, gatherings, and protests in areas from Gaushala to Tribhuvan International Airport, Gairigaun, Tinkune, Koteshwar, Jadibuti Bridge, Balkumari Bridge, Baneshwar Chowk, Shankhamul Bridge, and New Baneshwar Chowk.
Two people were killed, and 45 others were injured in violent clashes between security personnel and protesters. Seven people with bullet injuries are being treated at various hospitals in Kathmandu, including five at Tribhuvan Teaching Hospital and two at the National Trauma Centre.
Authorities have vowed to take action against those responsible for the violence.
