Three children died by drowning in two separate incidents on Saturday.
A 14-year-old girl died after drowning in the Mahakali river in Shivanath Rural Municipality-1, Baitadi.
She had gone to the river to swim along with another 12-year-old girl at around 9am on Saturday. Search for the missing victim is underway, said Balaram Pandey, spokesperson for Baitadi police.
In a separate incident, two girls, aged 12 and 10, also drowned while bathing in the Phoksundo river in Dolpa on Saturday morning, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Krishna KC.
Both of them are locals of ward 5 of Kaike Rural Municipality.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
